    Fatima Sharafeddine, one of Kalimat’s most prolific writers, was born in Lebanon and spent the first six years of her life in Sierra Leone. 
Over the last eight years, she has written and published over 85 books mainly for children under 12 years old, and has translated several others from English and French into Arabic. She has won several awards including the Anna Lindh Regional Award in 2011, the best book award at the Beirut International Book Fair in 2011 for the Kalimat book Faten, was shortlisted for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award twice (in 2010 and in 2011) and made it to the Anna Lindh honour list in 2009 and 2010. She has written more than 39 books for Kalimat ranging from Murjan for the 0+ age group to Faten for young adults.
    Fatima has recently started to give workshops in various Arab capitals for writers who want to focus on children’s literature.
